WHO WE ARE
Regina Mater, through the example of Christ in our Blessed Mother, strives to educate and cultivate saints for our time, who stand in the service of the Catholic Church and work to renew the world for the Trinity.
OUR FAMILIES
Currently, we are fifteen families who home school our children and come together part-time to provide each other with what we believe is the best educational option for our families.
TUITION
We support the Catholic family and their commitment to educate their children in obedience to the Catholic faith. In this spirit, the per-family flat tuition rate is intended to allow the whole family - every child - the opportunity to educate and be educated.
STUDENT-TEACHER RATIO
Our goal is to keep all of our classes at or below a student-teacher ratio of 10:1 to provide individualized attention and instruction.
TEACHER CERTIFICATION & TRAINING
All of our core curriculum teachers are certified teachers. Those teachers on our staff who do not hold teaching certificates have at least some experience teaching children and postgraduate training in the field in which they are teaching. Our parents are their children’s primary educators; thus, our teaching staff consists primarily of the parents of our students. We hire from outside the program where required.
CALENDAR
Our calendar is based on the church calendar first and then the school year. We open our program after
Labor Day to coincide with the celebration of the Birth of Our Lady on September 8th. We return to classes in January with a celebration of the Epiphany. We close the year with May crowning (this year on May 18th – our Covenant Day)
We present our families with an Advent and a Lenten workshop at the beginning of those seasons. We celebrate saints feast days and Mardi Gras both in classes and in the Colloquium.
ETHICS & INTEGRITY
All parents and staff members are required to have completed the Diocesan Ethics and Integrity “Protecting God’s Children” workshop. We ask parents to submit a copy of the certificate received at training as proof of attendance. Parents are also asked to complete the Diocese’s online form to allow for background checks.
RECORDS
We keep basic registration records on students only: name, address, phone numbers, immunization card, surveys completed by parents, the student and any prior teachers, academic information, such as report cards, etc. All information and materials on students are kept strictly confidential and locked in a file cabinet.
REPORTS TO PARENTS
The progress of the children’s class work is provided by a semester report from each of their teachers. In Grades Pre-K through Grade 5, it is a brief narrative of what the child has mastered and areas that need improvement. In Grades 6 and above, the children are given a narrative description and a letter grade based on the standard 4-point scale.
CURRICULUM
Our curriculum is chosen in committee by our staff and parents. Families purchase their own texts and materials although some are available for checkout. Additional information on curriculum is available separately.
